After your operation, you’re likely to be briefed about your limits with regards to travel. Depending on the type of procedure you’ve had done, you will usually have a recovery period, within which it is usually advisable not to fly during this time. Ensuring you take out a travel insurance policy before your journey can help to put your mind at ease, as should any reoccurrences of injury happen when you’re abroad and you require treatment, at least you’d have a degree of cover through your policy, but you must ensure that your cover is eligible for your destination, and also covers any activities you might have planned for your trip - although you’re more than likely not going to want to anything too strenuous after surgery.
And most importantly of all, if you don’t feel comfortable travelling, regardless of how long it’s been since your surgery, then it’s worth looking into rearranging for another time, as it’s better to take your time and stay healthy than jeopardise your recovery and make the situation worse by trying to do too much soon afterwards.
