It is quite common for family members or friends to help a learner with driving practice so that lessons fees are kept to a minimum. However under these circumstances, it is important to have learner car insurance in place for peace of mind.
Learners are more prone to mistakes because just like everything that you try for the first time, you are a bit raw at first and get better with time. Mistakes can be very minor like scratching the car when doing a manoeuvre but can cost a lot to be repaired especially that nowadays most cars have metallic paint finish. There can be more devastating consequences as well like bumping into the car in front because the learner has yet to master the pedals in the car and if adequate insurance is in place, there’s nothing to worry about.
It is important to take the time to teach a learner. They need patience and not shouting at. Things that may seem really easy for us, experienced drivers, may not be the same for them. It is best to teach them slowly and let them master one thing first before going to the next thing; otherwise they might just get really confused and upset.
